Business Cards

Do you have a side gig or business (think selling on Ebay or Craigslist and drive for Uber/Lyft)?

Then you can qualify for a business card!

One of the benefits of having a side hustle is that you can apply for a business card. It doesn't matter if you only earn $1000 or less than $100 a year, as long as you're actually "doing" it.

Business Cards — The Basics

Business cards doesn’t count towards your 5/24 status (except for Capital One, Discover and TD Bank) so this is another great opportunity to earn points faster!

Examples of side gig/business:

- Selling on FB Marketplace, eBay, Amazon, and Craigslist

- Driving for Uber and/or Lyft

- Etsy Store

- Photography or Videography

- Hosting on Airbnb / renting out properties

- Delivery driver (Uber Eats, Grubhub, Postmates, DoorDash, etc.)

- Freelance Graphic Design & Writing

- Dog walking services (Rover, etc.)

- Online Marketer (Managing online accounts like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok for other businesses)

- Drop shipping

- and the list goes on!

Question About Business Cards

One of the main questions that people ask once approved for a business card is this:

Do you use that business card for business expenses only?

The answer is yes and no. The bank requires you to only use your business card for business expenses but in reality, there is NO WAY they can track if a certain expense is personal or a business expense. I've been using my business cards and mix them with personal/business purchases and no banks have contacted me to explain each item on my bank statements. There are a lot of other points enthusiasts that do the same thing and didn't have any issues whatsoever.

If you want to play it safe then you can always just use your business cards for your business expenses. : )

Pro Tip - How To Earn More Points If You Have a Business EIN

Do you have a business EIN? If so, this is a another great way to earn more points!

Having a business EIN # let you apply for the same business card twice (or even more) depending on how many businesses you have!

NOTE: This only works for Chase and not with American Express, Citi, etc.

Here’s an example:

There are 3 Chase Business cards that currently has an amazing offer at the moment - Chase Ink Business Cash, Chase Ink Business Unlimited, and Chase Ink Business Preferred.

Let’s say I wanted to apply for the Chase Ink Business Cash. What I’ll do first is apply for the Chase Ink Business Cash card using my SSN. Once I get approved, I will wait at least 30 days, then apply for the same card again but this time, I will use my business EIN.

By doing this method, you will get the bonus on the Chase Ink Business Cash twice! #winning

But what if you have 3 or more business EINs? That means you can apply for the same business card 4 times and get 4x the bonus!

This is just one of the best strategies that I know and I’ve used this personally. My wife and I own a wedding videography business and have an LLC for it. Once we have created that LLC, we get a business EIN # and use that to apply for more business cards!
